Edith Harper Obituary

Edith Evelyn (Weaver) Harper, 91, of Pleasant City, passed on to her Heavenly home on Monday (February 19, 2024) surrounded by her loving husband and family at her home.

She was born September 6, 1932 in Pleasant City, daughter of the late Roy Weaver and Mary “Angie” (Johnson) Weaver.

After attending Buffalo High School, Edith had worked at Harold’s Dairy, Hamilton Beach, and Westinghouse.

She was a member of the Zanesville Bible Methodist Church and was a Sunday school teacher.  Edith and her husband, Eber, were instrumental in organizing the annual gospel sings held at Spring Valley.

Edith enjoyed collecting lighthouses, gardening, and canning.  She was well-known for her delicious homemade noodles.  She loved vacationing with her children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Jean Combs; a brother, George Weaver; two sisters, Thelma Combs and Vivian Warehime; two grandsons, James Dodd and Jason Dudley; and a great-grandson, Kegan Seymour.

She is survived by her loving husband, Eber Harper, whom she married November 26, 1948; three sons, Garland (& Kathy) Harper of Pleasant City, Jeff (& Leah) Harper of Lancaster, and Brian Harper of Cumberland; two daughters, Trenda (& Larry) Bethel of Old Washington and Becky Dudley of Pleasant City; a sister, Gail Warehime of Cambridge; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; a son-in-law, Tom Combs; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; her caregiver, Cathy Stewart; and her cat, Muffin Sue.

Visitation will be held Wednesday (February 21, 2024) from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where funeral services will be held Thursday (February 22, 2024) at 1 p.m. with Pastor Bill Blair and Pastor Titus Byer officiating.

Burial will be at Buffalo Cemetery.
