Janet Carol Selock, age 87, of Cambridge passed away peacefully at her home Thursday, April 11, 2024.
Janet was born October 29, 1936, in Birmingham to her late parents, Oscar and Lucille (Brownfield) Brister.
Janet graduated in 1954 from Old Washington High School.
Janet worked for many years at Spillman Drug store later known as Cambridge Pharmacy, and retired from Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in 1998.
Janet enjoyed crocheting and sewing projects. She was a skilled seamstress making even her own wedding suit. Janet was a wonderful baker as well and famous for her cherry pie & orange cookies.
Janet was a member of Stop Nine Church of Christ in Byesville and loved her church family.
In addition to her parents, Janet is preceded in death by her husband, Emil J Selock, whom she shared 64 years of marriage; a beloved sister, Rose Lee Matheny; a brother, James Stanley Brister killed in Vietnam in 1969; a brother, Floyd Brister; and three other siblings that died at child birth.
Those left to cherish her memory and live by her inspiration are her sisters, Norma (Larry) Jones, Jo Ann (Gerald) Snode, and June Lewis; and Janet’s beloved immediate family: son, Michael (Tracey) Selock; her daughter, Valerie Sampson; four grandchildren that she adored, Christian (Katie Pratt) Selock, Kylie (Tyler) Kiner, Ian (Curstan Grubb) Sampson, and Ellie (Ben Stillions) Sampson; and a cherished great-granddaughter, Lucille Jane Kiner born March 21, 2024.
Visitation will be held Tuesday (April 16, 2024) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Evan. Woody Biggs officiating.
Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Janet’s name to any charity of the donor’s choice.
