Roy M. Hensley, 76, of Byesville, passed away Monday (April 8, 2024) at his home.
He was born August 12, 1947 in Virginia, son of the late Theo J. “Sarge” Hensley and Bonnie R. (Sills) Hensley.
Roy attended Byesville High School. He was a construction worker, having worked for Kokosing Construction, Great Lakes Construction, and later Complete General.
He loved riding his motorcycle, loved the outdoors - especially fishing whenever he could. He was very brilliant, but also quiet and reserved. Above all else, he was a phenomenal grandfather who cherished the time he spent with his grandson.
Roy was a US Army veteran, who served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Byesville VFW Post 3760.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon L. Hensley; a brother, Richard Hensley; and a brother-in-law, Mark Lemmon.
Roy is survived by two daughters, Rachel Gergye (& her significant other, Scott Guillozet) of Hilliard and Michelle Burke of Arizona; two sisters, Linda Bing and Carol Lemmon; two grandchildren, Brexton and Brady; his good friend, Michael Gergye; and his lifetime friends, Tim Bates, Junior Parsons, and Bob Hartley.
Graveside services and burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Byesville, on Friday (April 12, 2024) at 12 p.m. with Rev. Nancy Parsons officiating. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
