Barbara Cook Obituary

Barbara Ann (Aleshire) Cook, 81, of Byesville passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the family that loved her. She fought a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.  Her strong will to live, love of her family, friends and the phenomenal support of her medical team carried her through the months and years of treatment.

 

She was born May 26, 1937 in Byesville and was the daughter of the late John and Ruth (Wiles) Aleshire.

 

Barb was a 1955 graduate of Byesville High School. She worked at March Electric, Ohio Power, and the former Guernsey Memorial Hospital as a switchboard operator, medical records clerk, and retired as Director of Volunteer services.  Barb loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was an avid reader, loved sewing, and spring and summer flowers.

 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dale E. Cook whom she married in December 28,1963 and passed away in 1995; brother-in-law Norm Cota.

 

She is survived by one son David Cook of Byesville; one daughter Lisa (Joey) Adamik of Walhonding; one sister Carol Cota of Byesville; grandchildren, Benjamin (Raine) Jerles of Cambridge, Emily Jerles of New Philadelphia, Joseph Adamik III of Senecaville, and Evan Adamik (Hannah Gadd) of Walhonding; nephew Tom (Cathy) Cota of Byesville; niece Cheryl Cota of Buffalo; two grand nephews, Tyler Cota of Byesville and Brandon (Atalie) Zimmerman of North Carolina; great grandchildren, Ava and Sophie Warner, Belle, Briar and Olive Jerles.

 

In accordance with her wishes Barb will be cremated and a private graveside service will be held at the convenience of her family.  Tyler Cota will officiate.

 

Family will receive visitors at Barb’s home Friday February 22nd from noon to 8:00 p.m.
