Carmen J. Diss, 70, of Byesville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (August 21, 2018) surrounded by her family at the Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus.
She was born May 17, 1948 in Cambridge, a daughter to the late Charles and Ruth (Huntsman) Wayt. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Charles Melvin Wayt.
Mrs. Diss was a 1966 graduate of Cambridge High School, and later graduated from Valley Beauty School. Carmen retired in 2005 after serving the local community as a hair stylist at several shops, including Garrett’s, Deluxe Beauty Shoppe, Changes, and Hair Hunters. In her spare time, Carmen enjoyed watching television, especially Days of Our Lives and WWE Wrestling, she belonged to the Byes. VFW 3760 Auxiliary and The Military Order of the Purple Heart Auxiliary. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cambridge.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Jerry, whom she married August 18, 1968; two sons, Brian (Stephanie) Diss of Byesville and Richard Diss (Angie Oiler) of London, Ohio; three brothers, Richard (Terri) Wayt of Cambridge, Robert Wayt of North Carolina, and Kenny Wayt of Florida; three sisters, Becky Wayt of Cambridge, Beth (Don) Schiber of Va. and Susan (Bill) Burch of Tenn.; four grandchildren, Kayla (Aaron) Boyd, Brittany and fiance’ Trae Hines, Brianna (Kody) Hickenbottom, and Austin Layne; two great-grandchildren, Willow and Beckett; a sister-in-law, Cheryl Rapol of Cambridge; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be Friday (August 24, 2018) from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to funeral services, which are scheduled for Saturday (August 25, 2018) at 11 a.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home in Byesville. Rev. Charles Hutchison will officiate; burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
