Charles Eugene “Chuck” Chippi, 83, of Byesville passed away Wednesday (December 26, 2018) at SEORMC.
He was born November 27, 1935 in Derwent and was the son of the late Mike and Doris (Van Dyke) Chippi.
Chuck was a retired School Administrator having served forty two years with several local school districts including, Rolling Hills, Cambridge and Shenandoah. He was a member of St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, and a 1953 graduate of Valley Local High School. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Ohio University and later earned his Master’s in Education from WVU.
He was a member of the Ohio Teachers Association, Atwood Bass Anglers, Rolling Hills Hall of Fame, and Buffalo Alumni Hall of Fame, volunteered at SEORMC, served on the board of the Guernsey County Senior Center. In his younger days he enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping with family.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother in law, Robert Mailot.
He is survived by two daughters, Celeste Chippi of Massillon and Valarie (fiance’ Clay Reavis) Chippi of Houston, TX; one brother Micheal Chippi of Derwent; three sisters, Phyllis Mailot of Pleasant City, Judy (Rick) Rowlands of Ava and Virginia Chippi of Derwent; three grandchildren, Eric, Adam and Joe; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; long-time friends, Jim and Beverly Moore of Cambridge and companion Bonnie Perkins of Cambridge; mother of his children Bonny Flemister of Texas.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church with Fr. Paul Hrezo officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Byesville.
