Charlotte Carlene (Griffith) Markley, 72, of Byesville passed away Wednesday (May 23, 2018) at her home.
She was born May 10, 1946 in Roane Co., WV and was the daughter of the late Samuel Charles and Juanita (Moore) Griffith.
Charlotte retired in 2008 from the former State Hospital after 22 years of service. She was a 1964 graduate of Byesville High School and a member of Byesville VFW Ladies Aux. She enjoyed trips to Carolina and Cocoa Beach, shopping and bingo. Recently she enjoyed watching Courtney’s dog, Paisley.
In addition to her parents Charlotte was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles Jr., Edward Keith, Jeffrey Charles and David Michael Griffith; one sister Carolyn Kaye Griffith.
She is survived by her husband of fifty two years, William Markley whom she married July 24, 1965; one son Jamie Markley of the home; one daughter Lisa Markley of Lore City; two grandchildren, Courtney Marlatt of Gahanna and Ian Taylor of Lore City; one sister Patsy Jane (Griffith) (Tom) Tomlinson of Orange Park, FL; one brother-in-law Jay (Ellen) Markley of Canton, MI; two sisters-in-law, Connie Staples and Joyce Griffith both of Cambridge; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Guernsey for their loving support and help through Charlotte’s illness. They would also like for memorial donations to be made to Hospice of Guernsey, P.O. Box 1165, Cambridge, Ohio 43725.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Guernsey Memory Gardens with Evangelist Mark Beros officiating.
