Danny L. Allender, 75, of Byesville, died Wednesday (August 22, 2018) surrounded by his family at The Ohio State University Medical Center – James Cancer Center, Columbus.
He was born December 7, 1942 in Cambridge, son of the late Milford Allender and Ann (Gress) Allender.
A 1961 graduate of Cambridge High School, Mr. Allender retired after thirty-eight years as a signal man for Penn, Penn Central, Conrail, and Norfolk Southern railroads.
He enjoyed golfing, gardening, yardwork, and spending time with his cat, Clyde.
Mr. Allender was a US Navy veteran, having served from 1960 to 1965 during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of the Buffalo VFW #8040 and the Cambridge Eagles Aerie 386.
He attended the Calvary Baptist Church of Byesville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Julia Allender.
He is survived by his wife, Judy (Blair) Allender, whom he married October 19, 1991; a sons, Shane (& Lori) McCance of Cambridge; two daughters, Robin (& Monte) Johnson of Kimbolton and Andrea (& Chris) Miles of Byesville; a sister, Darla (& John) Brownlee of Middleburg Heights; seven grandchildren, Ryan (& Alisia) Boyer, Bradley (& Courtney) Boyer, Tanner Jackman, Jaycie Jackman, Cohen Miles, Greyson Miles, and Weston Miles; five great-grandchildren; three nieces, Toni Speer, Rachael Redli, and Dawn (& Paul) Makowski; and four great-nieces & great-nephews, Connor Makowski, Brock Makowski, Emma Speer, and Taylor Speer.
Visitation will be held Monday (August 27, 2018) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Dennis Rost officiating.
Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, with military honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
