Doris Ruth Wickem

Doris Ruth Wickem, 78, of Cambridge, passed away Friday (October 11, 2019) at Mount Carmel East following a period of illness.

 She was born April 24, 1941 in Byesville and was the daughter of the late John William “Bert” and Lillian Beatrice (Moffatt) Wickem.

 In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Wickem and an infant brother Harold. 

 She is survived by a brother Walter (Deanna) Wickem of Cambridge; two sisters, Betty Butler of Pleasant City, and Kathryn Hostutler of Cambridge; several nieces and nephews who fondly remember Saturday visits to the Cambridge Library and many Sunday dinners. 

 Her family will also remember her generous spirit. She often gave to others and supported many charitable organizations.  Doris was a 1959 graduate of New Concord High School.  She served the medical community throughout her life, having worked in the local hospital and doctors offices throughout her career.  She retired from the Guernsey County Health Dept. after nineteen years of service.  She attended Byesville Assembly of God church.

 Not one for funerals and sadness, Doris opted for no calling hours or services.  She would rather be remembered loving life, enjoying a good book, or working a jigsaw puzzle.
