James B. “Jim” Peters, 84, of Byesville passed away unexpectedly Friday (December 14, 2018) while fishing at Salt Fork Marina.
He was born March 21, 1934 in Robins and was the son of the late James B. “Bunk” and Ann Maria (Hassell) Peters.
Jim retired from the former Dana Glacier Vandervell in 1999 after several years of service. He was a 1951 graduate of Byesville High School, a U.S. Army veteran, and a member of the Main Avenue United Methodist Church.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, and fishing, especially Crappie, and was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Martelle Gadd, and a sister-in-law, Carol Peters.
He is survived by his wife of fifty six years, Betty (Walters) Peters whom he married September 2, 1962; three sons, J. Doug (Christa) Peters of Villa Ridge, Missouri, David Brent Peters of Copley, and Jason Lee (Amy) Peters of Dover; one grandson Garrett James Peters of Dover; three step-grandchildren, Josh, Noel, and Mitchell; two brothers, Larry Peters and Joe (Sandra) Peters both of Byesville.
Calling hours will be Tuesday 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville. Services will be Wednesday 1:00 pm with Pastor Nancy Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
