Jerry Nixon Obituary

Jerry L. Nixon, 79, of Cambridge, passed away Saturday June 23, 2018 at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark.

 He was born May 15, 1939 in Pleasant City, the son of the late Harry Nixon, and Delsie (Nunley) Nixon-Haugh.

Jerry retired from Rolling Hills Schools after 30 years of service, where he worked as a custodian. He also worked for several years as a Union Laborer, and was a former township trustee for Valley Township.

Jerry enjoyed bee keeping, trapping, hunting, fishing, gardening, farming, and time spent with family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny and James Nixon, and two sisters, Juanita Hayes, and Marguerite Tansel.

Jerry is survived by his wife Patsy L.”Pat” (McMillen) Nixon, whom he married, October 25, 1964; a son James (Cathy) Nixon of Cambridge; two daughters, Sherri (David) Zacharias of Salesville, and Valerie Nixon of Cambridge; four grandchildren, Brittany and James Nixon, and Jennifer and Lindsey Zacharias; three brothers, Harry (Jean) Nixon of Reynoldsburg, Robert (Joann) Haugh of Byesville and William (Shirley) Haugh of Tennessee; one sister, Ruth Schockling of Zanesville; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home in Byesville, where funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 am, with Rev. Robert Garman, and Rev. Robert Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery.
