Larry R. Gray, 77, of Zanesville, formerly of Cambridge, passed away Monday (September 30, 2019) at OSU Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born August 27, 1942 in Cambridge and was the son of the late Joseph and Thelma (Grubs) Gray.
Mr. Gray retired from the Department of Army as a civil service employee after 29 years of service. He was an Army veteran, and was an artillery specialist while being stationed in Germany. He was a member of Claysville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed wood carving, artistic painting, fishing and family vacations.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, James and William Gray; one sister Mary Bell Kuhn.
He is survived by his wife of fifty four years Nancy L. (Dorland) Gray whom he married May 1, 1965; two sons, Larry (Adele) Gray Jr. of Nashport and Eric (Jessica) Gray of Palmyra, IN; one brother David “Jack” Gray of Cambridge; two grandchildren, Chantelle Nolan and Ethan Gray; two great grandchildren and one on the way; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville where services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Keith Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant City Cemetery with military services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
