Mary Ellen (Pierce) Nicholson, 94, of Cambridge passed away Monday (August 12, 2019) at the Cardinal Place.
She was born March 5, 1925 in Crooksville and was the daughter of the late Frank E. and Stella Z. (Brown) Pierce.
Mrs. Nicholson retired from Cambridge Credit Bureau after several years of service. She previously worked as a lunch lady at the former Beech Grove School. She was a member of Main Ave. United Methodist Church, Women’s Bowling Association, and the former Freeland Valley Power Club. She was a 1943 graduate of Byesville High School. Mary Ellen loved going out to dinner, flea markets, attending Old Hit and Miss Engine shows with her husband, and was an avid Ohio State and Meadowbrook Colt fan.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James R. Nicholson whom she married March 1, 1946 and passed away October 12, 2005; son Craig Nicholson; infant grandson Adam Richard Nicholson; five brothers, Marion, Cecil, Harold, Gerald and Frank; two sisters, Freda Benzler and Juanita Matheny.
She is survived by her son, Gary (Linda) Nicholson of Cambridge; her daughter Melissa (Tim) Wood of Claysville; daughter-in-law Mary Beth Nicholson of Ft. Worth, TX; grandchildren, Melody (David) Derrig of Ft. Worth, TX, Wilson (Kacie) Nicholson of Bowie, TX, Matthew (Alissa) Wood of New Concord, Lori (David) Morrow of New Concord; Jeremy (Jessica) Nicholson of Cambridge; great grandchildren, Benjamin and Madeline Derrig, Gillian and Hoyt Wood, Eliza Jane and Titus Morrow, and Riley and Zoey Nicholson.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville where services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday with Pastor Nancy Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
