Peter “Pete” Modock, 96, of Pleasant City, passed away Sunday September 8, 2019 at the Cambridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Pete was born October 1, 1922 in Buffalo, OH, and was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Mochary) Modock.
Mr. Modock was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the SEABEES in the South Pacific in WWII from 1942 – 1946.
He was a former employee at EKCO Housewares, Leatherwood Lumber Company, and B.O. Railroad. He also worked at the scales on the Interstate. He retired after many years as a traveling Drivers License Examiner. Pete also loved working at jobs for St. Michael’s Church, and relaxed by working in his garden, and watching it grow.
In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Daymut) Modock in 1992; a son, Russell in 1970; brothers, Michael, Andy, George, Joe, Paul, Tony, John, Nick, and Steve; sisters, Helen, Mary, and Ann.
He is survived by his son John Modock, Pleasant City; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held Thursday 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Pleasant City, where mass of Christian burial will be held Friday at 12:00 p.m. with Father Ed Gretchko officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
