Raymond A. “Butch” Slifko, 88, of Byesville passed away Monday (June 3, 2019) at SEORMC.
He was born July 4, 1930 in Beech Grove and was the son of the late Andy F. and Susie (Kromi) Slifko.
He retired from the Byesville Water Dept. after 30 plus years of service, and was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Cambridge VFW #2901 and Eagles Aerie #386. Butch enjoyed mowing his grass, being outdoors and spending time with his family, and he never met a stranger.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Judy (Bradfield) Slifko whom he married April 5, 1968 and passed away July 26, 2000; a sister Thelma; five brothers, Robert, Thomas, Richard, James, and Dwight.
He is survived by three sisters, Eleanor (Robert) Hopkins of Cambridge, Shirley (William) Haugh of Sevierville, TN, and Joann (Robert) Haugh of Byesville; a very special friend and companion Betty Gerdau; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville where services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday with Evangelist Woody Biggs officiating. Burial will follow in Guernsey Memory Gardens with military honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
