Robert Steven “Boot’em” Kirkman, 90, of Byesville passed away Tuesday (April 17, 2018) at SEORMC.
He was born August 31, 1927 in Boden and was the son of the late George and Eliza (Jackson) Kirkman.
Mr. Kirkman retired from Kent Industries in Kent, Ohio as Plant Mgr. He also owned and operated Indian Lakes and Woodlands for many years. He was a graduate of Brown High School, after graduating he attended Dakota Wesleyan University, Mitchell S.D., where earned first team All American honors in football. He enjoyed fishing and his trips to Canada. Boot’em was never without his Red Man chewing tobacco for 85 years!
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Huntsman; two brothers and their wives, Ross (Lyda) Kirkman and Donald (Mabel) Kirkman; one sister Stella (Frank) Williams; granddaughter Tammy Lynn Waite and nephew Bernie Kirkman.
He is survived by two sons, Steve Kirkman of Byesville and George Kirkman of Cambridge; one daughter Barbara (Max) Fehrman of Byesville; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; former wife Evelyn Weaver of Byesville.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville with a service to follow at 7:00 p.m.
The family would like to thank grandson Aaron and his family, Robin, Christian and Courtney for opening their home and caring for Boot’em for the past thirteen years.
