Ruth Ellen Mae (DeVault) Voorhies

Ruth Ellen Mae (DeVault) Voorhies, 71, of Byesville passed away Wednesday (December 12, 2018) at her home.

 She was born March 14, 1947 in Cambridge, and was the daughter of the late Howard E. DeVault and Margaret Ellen (Copeland) DeVault Hoey.

 Ruth was a homemaker and attended Freedom Worship Church.  She was an owl collector who also enjoyed crocheting, singing, dancing and spending time with her family.

 In addition to her parents Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Seth Voorhies whom she married July 29, 1967 and passed away April 27, 2017; one great granddaughter Olivia; two brothers, Howard and Randall DeVault; sister-in-law Vicki L. DeVault; brother-in-law Fred Wolverton; step-brother Ronald (Patty) Hoey.

 She is survived by two daughters, Tammy (David) Hall and Jodi (Robert) Carpenter both of Byesville; one brother John (Pam) DeVault of Buffalo; four sisters, Cathy (Tom) Cota of Byesville, Amy (Waylon) Mohler of Cambridge, Julie Wolverton of Cambridge and Elizabeth (John) Reeder of Columbus; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

 Calling hours will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville where services will follow at 12:00 with Rev. David Glass officiating.  Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
