Thelma D. Palmer, 91, of Burton, and formerly of Cortland, and Senecaville, Ohio, passed away Tuesday October 9, 2018 at the Burton Health Care Center.
She was born February 20, 1927 in Neffs, Ohio, the daughter of the late William and Iva Groves Dawson.
Thelma retired after 25 plus years of dedicated service from Packard Electric, a division of General Motors in Warren. She was a graduate of Bellaire High School, a member of the Eastern Star, and helped start the Women’s Auxiliary for the Bazetta Township Fire Dept.
Thelma was an avid reader, she enjoyed working outside, especially mowing her grass, crocheting, puzzles, fishing, time spent on the pontoon, traveling with her late husband Richard, and her time spent in Arizona, and Texas during the winters.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard F. Palmer in 2008, a daughter, Sherry Nyako, a sister, Alvaretta Young, a brother, Carl Dawson, and a son-in-law, Thomas Newcomb.
Thelma is survived by her daughter, Kathy Newcomb, grandson, Matthew Newcomb, both of Garrettsville, Oh., brother, William Dawson, Cortland, Oh., sister, Evelyn (Jean) Davis, Shadyside, son-in-law, Donnie Nyako, Warren, Oh., and long time friends and neighbors, Fred and Amy Oliver and family.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Black-Epperson Funeral Home in Senecaville, where services will begin at 1:00 pm, with Evang. Mark Beros officiating.
Burial will follow in Senecaville Cemetery.
