Walter Merrow Jr.,70, of Byesville, formerly of Marietta went to be with the Lord on Friday October 18th after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born November 1, 1948 in Marietta a son to the late Walter and Creola (Pryor) Merrow,. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son, Aaron Merrow; two brothers, Harold and Bobby; and a brother in law Jim Leister.
Walter graduated from Marietta high school and later served in the Ohio National Guard where he attained the rank of Sergeant. Walter owned and operated JR Trucking for several years and later worked for Tri-State and Estes until his retirement, his passion in life was driving an 18 wheeler across this great country, and his family. Walter was a member of the Freedom Worship Church in Byesville.
Survivors include his wife Sharon (Campbell) Merrow whom he married on June 3, 1999, a son Donald (Kellie) Merrow of Lower Salem, a daughter Mechelle (Joe) Adams of Myrtle Beach, a step son Jim (Stacy) Ankrom of Cambridge, four grandchildren Josh Merrow (Alicia), KyLynn Adams Slimmer (Zach), Donald Jeffrey Merrow (Jennifer), and Tyson Ankrom, six great grandchildren Macy and Myah Merrow, Troy, Ryan, and Adelynn Slimmer, and Cohen Ankrom, siblings Dallas (Joyce) Merrow of Texas, Myrtle Leister, Naomi (Bernard) Leister,Carolyn (Jim) Falkenberg and a sister in law Lisa Merrow all of Marietta. Walter will be missed by his extended family and friends at Ankrom Auto, where he spent much of his free time.
Calling hours will be held on Monday October 21st from 6-8 pm at Black-Epperson funeral home in Byesville, with funeral services scheduled for 11:00 am Tuesday from the funeral home with Pastor David Wylie officiating, burial to follow at Greenwood cemetery.
