Betty Jo (Malvin) Zmij, 74, of Pleasant City, passed away Friday (September 11, 2020) at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
She was born May 19, 1946 in Zanesville and was the daughter of Herb and Lena Malvin.
Betty was a 1964 graduate of Cumberland H.S. where she was a varsity cheerleader. She later earned her Associates degree in business.
Because of her love of people and travel, she enjoyed her work in tourism most of all. She was a member of St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church where she was also a member of the Ladies Guild. Her hobbies included quilting, gardening and canning. She loved to cook; pies and Slovak foods were her specialty. She was never one to sit around and loved to be out and about.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Roger Malvin, a granddaughter, and a great granddaughter.
She is survived by her husband of forty four years, Gary Zmij whom she married June 24, 1976; five daughters, Theresa (Mark) Campbell of Ava, Rebecca (Lloyd) LaCroix of Ava, Wendy Misock of Cambridge, Dawn Jones of Pleasant City, Amber (Michael) Schuiteman of Columbus; she also had a step-daughter, Heather (Andy) Parsons of Byesville; twelve grandchildren, and nineteen great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church with services to follow at 11:30 with Fr. Ed Gretchko officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
