Carol Ann Mathews, 77, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, surrounded by her loving family, at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center from complications of COVID-19.
Carol was born on October 28, 1943 in Cambridge, Ohio to the late James E. and Edna Mae (Bennett) Ball. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother James L. Ball, two sisters Sandra Jean Ball and Sharon Sue Gatrell, two grandbabies and two great-grandbabies.
Carol retired from NCR in 1993 after 23 years of service. She was a member of the Wellston Church of God of Prophecy. She taught Sunday School and was involved in the children’s ministry for many years. She also enjoyed singing in the choir which consisted of many family members. Carol enjoyed crocheting, singing, the Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders and Ohio State Football. She also enjoyed red cardinals and listening to Bill Gaither. Carol loved traveling to Marietta, Ohio to see the Sternwheel river boats. More than anything in life, she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Tami (Michael) Kennedy of Cambridge, Ohio, Steve (Melissa) Mathews of Wellston, Ohio and Stacy (Kevin) DeVore of Winterset, Ohio. She leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Michael (Stacy) Kennedy, Amanda Kennedy, Matthew (Maeve) Kennedy, Nathan Kennedy, Nicholas Kennedy, Steven (Kara) Mathews, Jason (Tabitha) Mathews, Brianna (Quentin) Hensler, Megan (Zachary) Terry, Tiffany (Wade) Palmatier and Benjamin DeVore. She also leaves behind 18 great-grandchildren, one sister, Kathy Kahrig, sister-in-law, Lynn Ball, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Due to COVID-19 pandemic, private services will be held for the family with Rev. Steve Mathews officiating, and burial to take place in Guernsey Memory Gardens.
