Daniel “Dan” Simmons Jr., 69, of Byesville passed away Tuesday (December 10, 2019) at SEORMC.
He was born February 10, 1950 in Trail Run and was the son of the late Daniel and Lora (Miles) Simmons Sr.
Mr. Simmons retired from DSW Warehouse in Columbus after 33 years of service. He was a 1968 graduate of Meadowbrook High School, and a member of Church of Christian Union, Derwent. Dan enjoyed farming, spending time on his tractor, spending time with his great grandchildren and his dogs, Wendy, Pepper and Stella.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Danella Teter; brother-in-law Bill Huff.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marjorie (Harper) Simmons whom he married July 20, 1968; one son, Daniel R. (Amanda) Simmons of Byesville; two daughters, Lorie (TR) Love of Lore City, and Michele (Bob) Mizer of Byesville; two sisters, Nancy Huff, Tampa, FL, and Margaret (Gary) Parsons of Byesville; six grandchildren, Sarah Love, Travis DeVault, Lisa (Logan) Stillion, Joseph Kuster, Tyler and Emilie Simmons; two great grandchildren, Easton and Dane Stillion.
Calling hours will be will be Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville where services will be 12:00 p.m. Friday with Rev. Greg Thacker officiating.
