David H. Burns, 85, of Senecaville (formerly of New Albany and Reynoldsburg), passed away Saturday (October 7, 2023) at his home.
He was born January 30, 1938 in Buffalo OH, a son to the late Carl and Rilla (Moore) Burns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn (Wickline) Burns, whom he married May 29, 1969 and who passed away December 18, 2021.
Mr. Burns was a 1956 graduate of Reynoldsburg High School, served in the US Army in Germany for two years, and was a Signalman for the B & O Railroad/Chessie System for over 38 years. David and his wife, Marilyn, were members of the Cambridge First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Kelly (Richard) Scott of Newark; a brother, Carl (Lois) Burns of Tyler TX; two grandchildren, Major Catherine O’Brien currently serving in the USAF and Benjamin (Katherine) O’Brien of Baltimore OH; three sisters-in-law, Janet Wickline, Ann Wickline, and Sue Houck; several special cousins; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday (October 12, 2023) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Senecaville, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor John Lobos officiating.
Burial will be at Senecaville Cemetery, with military graveside honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to one of the following organizations: 1) The Robert T. Secrest Senior Center, 201 S High St, Senecaville OH 43780; or 2) The Ohio State University – The Thoracic Oncology Center Support Fund for Lung Cancer Research
