Deloris “Dee” Chalfant, 81, of Byesville, died Tuesday (July 26, 2022) at Select Specialty Hospital of Newark.
She was born September 6, 1940 in Old Washington, daughter of the late William Miller and Mabel (Keith) Miller.
A graduate of Senecaville High School, Dee retired in 1986 from the former Cambridge State Hospital, where she had worked as a psychiatric aide.
Many knew Dee as a sweet little old lady that reminded them of their grandmother.
She enjoyed flowers, needlepoint work, word search books, and watching the Game Show channel. She really loved visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Miller; and two sisters, Elizabeth Miller and Mary Belle Miller.
She is survived by two sons, Walter Lee Chalfant of Byesville and William Ray Chalfant of Byesville; a daughter, Patricia Chalfant of Zanesville; five granddaughters and one grandson; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her cat, Taffy.
Visitation will be held Friday (July 29, 2022) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville.
Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge, at a later date.
