Dennis "Moe" Schultice Obituary

Dennis Blaine “Moe” Schultice, age 76, died Friday (May 5, 2023) at the Morrison House, Zanesville. He was born June 4, 1946 in Caldwell, the second son of Russell & Neva Burt Schultice.

After graduating from Byesville High School in 1964, Dennis attended National School of Meat
Cutting in Toledo, Ohio.

In 1965 he enlisted in the US Army and served in Germany and Ft. Hayes in Columbus, OH until 1968.

In 1969 he married his first wife, Maureen Dowling, with whom he had two daughters. He married Gail Nass in 1998 and had one son.

He enjoyed a long and satisfying career in food service, including 22 years with ARAMARK at Muskingum University, Tiffin University, and Heidelberg University where he had the opportunity to travel to college campuses around the country, meet Kenny Rogers, create beautiful ice sculptures and elaborate campus dining options, and befriend many college students, faculty members, and staff, and three years as head cook at Camp Presmont where he lovingly fed, encouraged, and inspired campers who knew him as Mr. Dennis.

Dennis was a member of the American Legion Post 116, the VFW Post 2901, the DAV, and the Duncan Falls Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder.

He was a proud veteran, a devoted father, a loving grandfather, an avid baker, a generous mentor, and a good neighbor. He loved fishing, gardening, and yard work; his dog and faithful companion Rube; Duncan Falls Presbyterian Church; preparing a good meal and the conversation that accompanied it; and telling childhood stories. He loved sharing stories - exaggerations included - about growing up with eight brothers and sisters in a house with few possessions, but a lot of love.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant brother, Charles Frederick.

He is survived by his wife, Gail; two daughters, Leah (Michael) Rolling; Jen (Bryce) Bronner; one son, Blaine; grandchildren, Caleb (Alayna) Rolling, Luke Rolling, Lydia Rolling, Isy Bronner, Ty Bronner; step-children Brian (Cherie) Nass, Melissa (Helmer) Nass-Flores, Stephanie (Travis) Taylor and six step-grandchildren. He is also survived by his eight siblings; Jan (Janet) Schultice, Dave Schultice,Kay (Dale) Mesarchik, Joelene Sivadge, Becky (Doug) Bruner, Jeff (Kristan) Schultice, Trina (Mark) Paul and Jean (Jim) Law; many treasured nieces and nephews who fondly called him Uncle Moe; and his first wife and lifelong friend, Maureen Schultice.
