Ernest Eugene “Gene” Bay passed away on December 31, 2020 at his home. He was born December 2, 1923 to the late Arthur H. and Mary Marie Bay.
Gene was a member of Christ Our Light Parrish, a Army World War II veteran, 1942 graduate of Cambridge High School, and a member of the Kipling VFW Post 7371. He retired from Champion Spark Plug.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Matilda “Tillie” Bay in 2008. They were married June 26, 1948. He is also preceded in death by a brother, William Bay; sisters, Evalyn Neff, Lucille Bowman, Helen Soeder, Dorothy Matthews, Donna Brix, Betty Duffey, and Alice Brunhaus; daughter-in-law, Josephine Bay, and granddaughter, Mandy Bay; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Loretta Stahovec.
Gene is survived by his brother, Arthur (Patricia) Bay; son, Alan Bay (Denise Phillips); daughters, Norma (Larry) Warner and Cheryl (Chris) Labish; grandchildren, Heather Owens, Rob Warner, Catherine Labish, Anthony Bay, Celena (Tim) Coolman, Claire, Tairiek and Jaeleigh Labish; great grandchildren, Olivia, Clayton, Zachary, Abigail and Damon Coolman; Jordan Owens and Summer Labish; and Denise’s children, Lara and Clay Phillips. Gene is also survived by a sister-in-law, Mary Jamiel; brother-in-law, Bill Sichina, and many nephews and nieces.
Viewing will take place Tuesday from 12:00 – 1:00 pm prior to 1:00 pm Mass at Saints Peter and Paul Church in Lore City with request of following guidelines of social distancing and wearing of masks. Family may be greeted at the conclusion of the service at the Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
