Eugene Viorel Beldean of Pleasant City, passed away May 3, 2022 at the age of 89. Eugene died peacefully with his wife, children and grandchildren by his side.
Gene, to his friends, was born in the small village of Geoagiu de Sus, Romania on August 1st, 1932 to father Andrew and mother Maria. He and his sister Sylvia came to America when he was 13. His father Andrew, a leather worker and shoe maker, had already come over to establish a home for the family in Virginia.
Gene ended up meeting the love of his life in Akron, Ohio. He married Eileen Sarac on December 10, 1954 and built a house in Stow. They later settled in Akron and built on to their small home so that Eileen’s mother Theresa could live with them. This turned out to be an amazing opportunity for their kids to grow up in a house full of loving family.
Gene loved everything outdoors. He hunted and fished all across America. From Mule Deer and Elk in Wyoming to Walleye fishing in Canada and Smelt in Arkansas. His favorite vacation spot was Chincoteague Island in the Chesapeake Bay area.
Gene and Eileen loved dogs and were nationally recognized breeders of Basset Hounds. They belonged to the Basset Hound Club of America often competing in field trials which resulted in multiple National Grand Field Champion Basset Hounds.
Living in Akron most of his life, he later moved down to Pleasant City after purchasing 23 acres of woods to build a new home and enjoy his retirement surrounded by nature.
Gene is survived by his wife Eileen, his two children Maria and Gene (Ellen), grandchildren Brandi (Troy) McCulley, Tony Beldean, Jennifer Kuczmarski, Theresa Kuczmarski, Seth Beldean, Olivia Beldean and many great grandchildren who loved him dearly.
A visitation for Gene is planned Friday (May 6, 2022) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home (231 East Main Ave, Byesville OH 43723), where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Evang. Woody Biggs officiating.
Burial will follow at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge.
