Eugene "Gene" Joseph Veselenak

Eugene Joseph “Gene” Veselenak, 71, of Byesville, passed away Tuesday (June 6, 2023) in Cambridge.

He was born July 6, 1951 in Cambridge, son of the late Andrew Veselenak and Dorothy Ann (Killiany) Veselenak.

Gene was a 1969 graduate of Meadowbrook High School and attended Ohio University – Zanesville.  He worked at the Sohio Service Stations in Cambridge and Byesville, and also at the Ashland Oil Service Station in Byesville.

Gene was a kind and caring person who was liked by everyone.  He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially going to family cookouts and parties.  Gene enjoyed going to car shows, watching horse racing, and trips to the casino.

He is survived by his brother, Andy (Vicky) Veselenak of Byesville; his sister, Cathy (Joe) Pastre of New Concord; his nephews, Nick Veselenak of Byesville, Cale (Christy Allen) Morse of Lore City, and Adam (Danielle) Veselenak & their children of Byesville; his lifetime friend, Tom Mackey of Byesville; and his extended family, Tracy (Bobby) Dingus, Erica (Matt) Johnson & their children, Missy (Bill) Mcglumphy, Tommy and Tony Mackey, and Travis (Tera) Watson & Kristalyn.

Visitation will be held Friday (June 9, 2023) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Evan. Mark Beros officiating.

Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Byesville.
