Gale Ruby, 84, of Byesville, passed away Thursday (October 7, 2021) at the Cardinal Place.
He was born August 11, 1937 in Byesville and was the son of the late Johnson E. and Allie A (Britton) Ruby.
Mr. Ruby retired from SEORMC after 34 years of service as a surgical orderly. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cambridge, a U.S. Army veteran, and was a member of the National Guard for six years. He loved watching sports, and was very passionate when it came to watching Ohio State, Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Cavaliers. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Marge, and their trips with Buckeye Tours.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by several half brothers and one half sister; one sister-in-law Leanna Ruby.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie (Tucker) Ruby whom he married November 9, 1968; one brother Johnson D. Ruby of Marysville; one sister Janet Ruby of CA; several nieces and nephews and great, great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville with services to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Tina Gallaher officiating. Veterans services will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council following the service.
Friends and family are welcome, but due to COVID-19, please take all necessary precautions to ensure your own safety, and everyone else’s should you decide to attend.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Byesville.
