Glenna Valentine, 87, of Byesville, passed away Tuesday (January 5, 2021) at the Cambridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born April 9, 1933 in Ava and was the daughter of the late Ralph and Catherine (Sowards) Hayes.
Glenna retired from the former State Hospital after several years of service. She was a graduate of Cumberland High School and attended Harmony Christian Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, watching the deer and birds, and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Meadowbrook Colts fan. Glenna was also a Lay Leader and spoke at several area churches.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dewey R. Valentine whom she married May 29, 1954 and passed away July 20, 1994; two brothers, Wayne and Carl Hayes; two sisters, Inabelle Hatcher and Faye Hayes; and a grandson Derrick Valentine.
She is survived by two sons, Danny (Diana) Valentine of Byesville and Dwayne (Melinda) Valentine of North Canton; one daughter Diana (Joe) Potts of Senecaville; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville with services to follow at 1:00 p.m. with Lester Bell officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends and family are welcome, but due to Covid-19, MASKS ARE REQUIRED. Please take all precautions to ensure your own safety and everyone else’s should you decide to attend.
