Harry A. Merchant, 87, passed away peacefully Wednesday (June9, 2021) at the Cambridge Place with his loving daughter, Sherri Potts, by his side.
Harry worked 35 years in maintenance at General Motors in Columbus. He moved his family in 1973 to Seneca Lake so his children could attend a better school system. He continued to drive to Columbus for 10 years before retirement at the age of 49, and built a house on a farm.
He loved to travel with his wife and cruised the world. He continued to cruise with his daughter after his wife passed away. He built all three of his homes. He loved to build things, farm, fish and gamble.
He always put the love of his family first. He treated his two step-children as his own from day one! He was the most wonderful step-father anyone could ask for.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ellie, his parents, a sister Helen Herns, and a brother Bill Merchant.
He is survived by his daughter Sherri (Eddie) Potts of Salesville; a son Jeff DeBold of Florida; two grandchildren, Adam (Jenny) Potts and Sarah Potts; three great grandchildren, Blaze, Noah and Emme Potts, all of Senecaville; two sisters, Elinore and Jeanie; one brother Jerry; a very special niece Susan (Jim) Williams; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He also leaves his special Aides who adored him, Melinda, Sheila, Debbie and Vanessa. He will be greatly missed.
Special thanks to the Absolute Hospice team.
