Howard Carlen, 94, of Rockledge, FL, formerly of Byesville, passed away Thursday (December 24, 2020).
He was born April 17, 1926 in Effington, IL and was the son of the late Victor and Claudia (Schuler) Carlen.
Howard was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal service. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, and a member of the American Legion. He was a member of Main Ave. United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Jeanne M. (McCarl) Carlen whom he married February 14, 1952 and passed away May 9, 2008.
He is survived by four sons, John Carlen of Rockledge, FL, Timothy (Pamela) Carlen of Medical Lake, WA, James (Gloria) Carlen of Jacksonville, FL, and Bruce (Deborah) Carlen of Frederick, MD; two daughters, Shurleen Ziegler of Middletown, MD and Cynthia Duquette of Granbury, TX; eight grandchildren, Adrienne, Chelsea, Jessica, Curtis, Jason, Valerie, Jeremiah, Miranda; four great grandchildren, Madison, Savannah, Audrey and Ava.
Burial was in Guernsey Memory Gardens with prayers by Pastor Nancy Parsons. A graveside memorial service will be held Sunday May 9, 2021.
