James “Jim” D. Dyer, 82, Byesville, went home to be with the lord on Saturday March 7, 2020 at his home, surrounded by family.
He was born April 22, 1937 in Byesville, Ohio, the son of the late Charles O. and Elva A. (Potts) Dyer.
Jim worked in concrete construction for many years. He was a foreman while working for Hug, Oglesby, and Gieple Concrete, and later retired after 8 years with the Shelly and Sands Company.
Jim was a 1955 graduate of Byesville High School, a U. S. Navy Veteran, and attended Calvary Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, and loved to fish. Jim was also known as a great shopper. If you needed something, he was happy to shop for it.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Dyer, 2 brothers, Jerry, and Charles “Gene” Dyer, and a sister, Nellie (Dyer) Phillips.
Jim is survived by his wife, Rebecca S. (Ward) Dyer, whom he married October 22, 1988, a son, Jim (Gisela Ferreira) Dyer, Clarksburg, Maryland, 2 daughters, Jill (Thomas) Steinmetz, Huron, Ohio, Jennifer (Charlie Young) Stillion, Cambridge, Ohio, grandchildren, Lindsey (Joe Mase) Dyer, Cory (Callie) Dahnke, and Molly Stillion, great-grandchildren, Isla Dahnke, and Emelia Mase, 2 sisters-in-law, Audrey Dyer, Byesville, and Susan Dyer, Walhonding, and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home in Byesville, where services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Dennis Rost officiating.
