Janice Irene (Short) Hayes, 82, of Byesville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday (November 22, 2019) at Summit Acres Nursing Home.
She was born September 23, 1937 in Cleveland, the daughter of the late John William and Vashti (Friel) Short.
Janice retired from Champion Spark Plug after thirty-seven years of service. She was a member of the former Trinity United Methodist Church. Janice was a woman of great faith, and a devoted mother and wife. She enjoyed literature, Irish music, and a good cup of tea.
In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Hayes, whom she married August 2, 1959 and passed away August 15, 2017. Also deceased is a brother, William Short.
She is survived by two sons, Carl Michael Hayes of Mt. Verde FL and Nathan Hayes of Athens; a daughter, Kathryn Darlene Blake (& fiancé, Ron Smith) of Byesville; six grandchildren, Erin, Corey, Karisa, Kasey, Tylor, and Michael; three great-grandchildren, Trinity, Layla, and Hattie; and two brothers, Jack (& Patricia) Short of Columbus and Fred (& Diane) Short of Byesville.
Calling hours will be Saturday (November 30, 2019) from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, with a service to follow.
Private graveside services will be held in Bethlehem Cemetery at a later date.
