Jerry Edwin Dettra, 80, of Senecaville, passed away Wednesday (February 23, 2022) at SEORMC.
He was born February 5, 1942 in Canton, son of the late Edwin M. and Earline E. (Barnett) Dettra.
Jerry was a 1960 graduate of Senecaville High School. He was formerly employed at Howard Bowers, Wintersville as a Foreman for 17 years, and was a member of Local #18. He was the co-owner/operator, along with his brother Lanny, of Meadowbrook Tire for the past 30 years. He was a Richland Twp. Trustee for 13 years and served on the Senecaville Village Council. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, gardening, days at the family farm, deer hunting,and NASCAR, his favorite driver being Bill Elliott.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Scott Dettra.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Peggy (Law) Dettra whom he married November 30, 1963; one son Todd (Tabitha) Dettra of Senecaville; one daughter Trudi (Tommy) Leach of Senecaville; two granddaughters, Amber (Tyler) List and Alyxandria Leach; one great granddaughter on the way; two brothers, Dennis Dettra and Lanny (Suzi) Dettra, both of Pleasant City; sister-in-law Lisa Dettra; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday (February 27th) from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville where services will be 12:00 p.m. Monday with Evangelist Woody Biggs officiating. Burial will follow in Senecaville Cemetery.
