John Kostelnik Obituary

John A. Kostelnik, 88, of Byesville, passed away Monday (November 1, 2021) at Country View Assisted Living.

He was born March 29, 1933 in Byesville, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Kovar) Kostelnik.

John was employed with LTV Steel in Cleveland for several years. He was a graduate of Byesville High School and a member of St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church.  He was an Army veteran.  He enjoyed gardening, going to Lake Erie fishing, hunting with Dave and was very faithful to his church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years Freda M. (Hall) Kostelnik whom he married June 2, 1973 and passed away September 3, 2017; three brothers, Joseph, Michael and Edward.

He is survived by one step-daughter Debbie of Cleveland; several cousins, including Paul (Carol) Kovar, Margaret (Dave) Hull, special cousin Davey Hull, step granddaughter Angela (Joe) Davis of Louisville, KY and his church family.

Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 to 11:30 at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville.  Mass of Christian burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. at St. Michael’s Church, Pleasant City. Burial to follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Byesville.
