John “JW” Wickem, 68, of Byesville, passed away Thursday (November 17, 2022) at his home.
He was born August 9, 1954 in Cambridge, the son of the late Elmer and Iva Larrison Wickem.
John was a self employed tree trimmer for most of his life. He was a graduate of Meadowbrook High School. John loved fishing, rock and roll music, and spending time with his grandsons, Memphis, and Cooper.
In addition to his parents, preceding him in death are two sisters, Peggy and Lillian Wickem; brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and Theresa Wickem; brothers-in-law, Jack Warehime and Dale Lashley.
Surviving John are two daughters, Jessica (Clint McElfresh) Ovens of Caldwell and Grace Ovens of Cumberland; and mother of his children, Dawn Ovens of Cumberland; grandsons, Cooper McElfresh and Memphis Ovens; three sisters, Freda Lashley of Pleasant City, Sandy (Dale) Swetz of Cambridge, and Becky Warehime of Cambridge; special friends, TW and Cindy Watkins of Ava; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his home health aide, Alyssa Ingram.
Also, a special thank you to Susie Dettra from Hospice of Guernsey.
No services will be held at this time. A celebration of life dinner for John will be held at a later date.
