Josephine Cornette Obituary

Josephine Marie Cornette, 86, of Buffalo, died Wednesday (April 27, 2022) at Southeastern Med, Cambridge.

She was born June 15, 1935 in Walhonding, daughter of the late Joseph Lukasewitz (Lucas) and Mary (Fiala) Lukasewitz.

A graduate of Valley Local High School, Mrs. Cornette retired in 2008 from Rolling Hills Local School District after thirty years as a paraprofessional.

She was a member of Christ Our Light Parish and served as a Eucharistic minister at the church.

Mrs. Cornette was a volunteer at Southeastern Med for many years.  She was a social member of the Cambridge VFW Post 2901 and the Cambridge Eagles Aerie 386.

She loved babysitting for several area families over the years.  She loved to read, with Helen Steiner Rice being her favorite author.  She also enjoyed Slovak cooking, gardening, and crocheting.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Cornette, who died September 27, 2009; a son-in-law, Keith Larrick; four sisters, Mary Else Hurka, Elsie Pachuta, Martha Gesner, Marjorie Lucas; a brother, Frank Lucas; a grandson, Clint Cornette; and her special friend, Frank Boscarillo.

She is survived by a son, Chuck (Shirley) Cornette of Buffalo; four daughters, Darlene Larrick (Francis Bauerbach) of Byesville, Annette Dennison (Frank Yoder) of Deersville, Nancy (Kenric) Ward of Cambridge, and Karen (Bob) Davis of Pleasant City; a brother, Joe Lucas of Cumberland; two sisters, Anna Hrizak of North Olmsted and Dorothy Perry of Parma; a brother-in-law, John Pachuta of Cambridge; two sisters-in-law, Betty (Bud) Barr of New Concord and Pat Cornette of Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren, Nathan Dennison (fiancée, Allie), Shawn (Sarah) Dennison, Tiffany Dennison (Sam), Dr. Cody (Carole) Fehrman, Cole (Kristy) Fehrman, Cheyann Fehrman, Joshua Davis, and Benjamin (Elizabeth) Davis; four step-grandchildren, Travis (Jackie) Groves, Dean Groves, Kohl Ward, and Kendal Ward; and numerous great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday (May 1, 2022) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where funeral services will be held Monday (May 2, 2022) at 11 a.m. with Father Robert Borer officiating.

Burial will be at Buffalo Cemetery, Buffalo.
