Leonard Ellis Holub

Leonard Ellis Holub, 69, of Byesville, passed away Sunday (March 12, 2023) at the Mary Rutan Medical Center, Bellefontaine.

He was born May 29, 1953 in Cambridge, son of the late Andrew E. Holub and Martha (Meighen) Holub.

Leonard was a lifelong resident of Byesville, where he was loved by many.  He also lived for three years at Cambridge Place Assisted Living and he loved it there.  Leonard was a 1973 graduate of Meadowbrook High School.  He attended the Byesville United Methodist Church and was a member of the Jaycee’s.  He helped at Bachman’s Bakery and played the spoons in Merna Valentine’s Band.  He enjoyed lunch at The Scoreboard and at Marlene’s Restaurant, visiting his buddies.

Leonard was often seen walking in town with a smile and wave to all his friends.  He will be greatly missed.  His passions included fishing and football, especially the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes.  Leonard had his own way of teaching us all compassion and love for all people.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia E. Holub; his grandparents; and his aunts & uncles.

He is survived by his brother, Ronald E. Holub of Asheville NC; his sister, Valerie E. (Holub) Vermillion of Celina; a niece; a nephew; and several great-nephews.

Memorial visitation hours will be held Saturday (March 25, 2023) from 12:45 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where a memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Nancy Parsons officiating.
