Margaret E. "Peg" Craig, 82, passed away peacefully January 7, 2021. Her life came full circle as she was born May 23, 1938 to Charles Kaho and Josephine (Watson) Craig on the same family farm in Salesville, OH.
She was a graduate of Lore City High School and The Ohio State University. With a degree in education, she ventured west to Twentynine Palms, CA, where she began a career that would span 44 years, teaching physical education at the Twentynine Palms Jr. High School.
All her life, Peg was an avid sports fan, especially for her beloved Buckeyes. She was particularly passionate about leading young women in athletics. She started the Girls Athletic Association and led the TPHS Girls basketball and volleyball teams as their devoted coach. She instilled the importance of hard work and humility in her players, won numerous league championships in both sports, ultimately leading the TPHS Girls Basketball team to a State Championship title in 1982.
While Peg never married, she lived a full and vibrant life with more friends than you could count. Always accompanied by a canine companion, she traveled many miles of our beautiful country every summer to return to the family farm in OH, often including family members in on the scenic adventure.
Peg was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Josephine, and her brother, Charles (Bud) Craig. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Lou Pogue and Jackie Peach, as well as 9 nieces and nephews, 25 great nieces and nephews, 8 great-greats, and several special lifetime friends (some of her former players among them), who will miss her dearly. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the loving caregivers of Amy’s Helping Hands, who cared for Peg like their own mother and became like family.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Peg’s favorite charity- (https://www.aspca.org)
The family plans to have a graveside memorial at Salem Baptist Church in Salesville with a Celebration of Life, once it is safe to do so.
