Marlene English Fehrman Obituary

Marlene English Fehrman, 89, of Byesville, passed away Monday (January 29, 2024) at Astoria Place of Cambridge.

She was born January 29, 1935 in Byesville, daughter of the late Lewis “Bones” Davis and Faye (Saltz) Davis.

Marlene was a 1952 graduate of Byesville High School.

She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Byesville, where she was also a member of the choir.  She directed the youth choir and teen choir, as well as played piano & organ for the church.

Marlene was known for her beautiful singing voice including singing for many years with her sisters – the Davis Sisters Trio – and also many duets, quartets, and as a soloist.  Her singing continued until her final week, spreading joy to her caregivers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert English, whom she married on May 2, 1954 and who passed away on February 7, 2003; her second husband, Raymond Fehrman, whom she married on September 27, 2007 and who passed away on April 5, 2015; a sister, Joan Fehrman; and four brothers-in-law, Jim English, Ralph Fehrman, Ernie Rogers, and Roy Fehrman.

Marlene is survived by four daughters, Jessilon (& Fred) Ortiz of Byesville, Brenda (& Bill) Gallagher of Centerville, Lori (& Dean) McHenry of Byesville, and Nanette (& Jim) Wilson of Clayton; a sister, Yvonne Rogers; two sisters-in-law, Sondra Fehrman and Nancy English; two step-children, Jim (& Teri) Fehrman of Mt. Vernon and Jon (& Amie) Fehrman of Marysville; six grandchildren, Amanda (& Tommy) of Toledo, Alissa of Byesville, Erin (& Jeff) of Hope Mills NC, Daniel (& Ashley) of Byesville, Kaylee (& Nathan) of Cincinnati, and Kendra (& David) of Arlington VA; six great-grandchildren, Aria, Ashlynn, Abel, Deacon, Kenny, Cora, and a seventh due in June; eight step-grandchildren, Tyler, Tara, Joshua, Kendra, Joel, Breanne, Rebekah, and Luke; and six step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday (February 1, 2024) from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville.  Additional visitation will be held Friday (February 2, 2024) from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church, Byesville, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Rost officiating.

Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Byesville.
