Matilda “Tillie” Mae Ward, 94, of Senecaville, died Monday (July 4, 2022) at Mercy Medical Center, Canton.
She was born May 13, 1928 in Zanesville, daughter of the late James Kirkbride and Rebecca (Weaver) Kirkbride.
Tillie worked several years at the former Cambridge State Hospital. She had also worked a few years at the former Guernsey Memorial Hospital. She was a homemaker as well.
She was a member of the Senecaville United Methodist Church.
Tillie loved sitting on her porch, taking care of her grandchildren, and loved her hummingbirds.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Iris C. “Buss” Ward, who died October 3, 1996. They were married September 25, 1961. Also deceased is a son, Harold Roberts; four brothers, James, Donald, Robert, and Sam Kirkbride; and two sisters, Helen and Mary Roe.
She is survived by her son, Tom Ward of Senecaville; her daughter, Tammie Larrison (Raymond Willison) of Senecaville; two brothers, Charles Kirkbride of McConnelsville and Roger (Carol) Kirkbride of Pleasant City; a sister, Jane Karl of Mansfield; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday (July 7, 2022) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Senecaville, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Nancy Parsons officiating.
Burial will be at Senecaville Cemetery.
