Michael Joseph Cermak, 31, of Shadyside, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday (January 31, 2023) at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
He was born November 25, 1991 in Columbus, son of Charlene (Carrel) Cermak and the late Linn Cermak.
Michael was a 2010 graduate of Caldwell High School and he also attended the Mid-East Ohio Career Center in Zanesville for welding. Michael worked as a security guard at the West Virginia Medical Center in Wheeling WV.
He briefly served in the US Marine Corps before receiving a medical discharge.
Michael was a former Boy Scout and was currently involved with Pack 212 of Shadyside with his son, Logan. He was a WWII buff and also a gun enthusiast. He enjoyed playing video games and watching cartoons, especially the Japanese anime cartoon Bleach. He was a weightlifter and bodybuilder.
He attended the Solid Rock Church of Cambridge.
Michael was a devoted husband and father and was extremely dedicated to his family, especially to his son. He was the type of person that never met a stranger and would do whatever he could to help those who needed it.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Landon Joseph Cermak; and his maternal & paternal grandparents.
Michael is survived by his wife, Misty Roberts; his mother, Charlene Cermak of Freeport; his son, Logan Cermak; his sister, Emily Cermak of Freeport; three stepsons, Cody Harding, Caiden Helms, and Cameron Helms; two stepdaughters, Kyrah Helms and Kloye Helms; his nephew, Barrett St. Clair; his special friend, Pat Norman of Pleasant City; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his pet Yorgie, Joey.
Visitation will be held Sunday (February 5, 2023) from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where funeral services will be held Monday (February 6, 2023) at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ken Harper officiating.
Burial will be at Buffalo Cemetery.
