Paul Olin Lighty, 69, of Lore City, passed away Monday (February 8, 2021) at Genesis Healthcare.
He was born September 16, 1951 in Cambridge and was the son of the late Fredric Major and Violet Ruth (Snider) Lighty.
Paul retired in 2003 from Auto Zone. He was formerly an over the road truck driver and a bus driver for Rolling Hills schools. He attended Church of Christ of Christian Union, and was a 1970 graduate of Cambridge High School. Paul enjoyed tinkering with tractors, woodworking, and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Eagles Aerie #386 where he was past president and chaplain for several years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Shirley W. and Dorothy M. Hickman; brother Fredric “Ricky” Lighty Jr; grandson, Clinton Lee Baker; aunt and uncle, Robert and Dorothy Madden; special cousin, John Edward “Jack” Parrot.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan Victoria (Hickman) Lighty whom he married September 23, 1972; one son, Paul (Renee) Lighty of Lore City; two daughters, Rachel (Doug) Baker of Cumberland and Melissa Lighty of Lore City; grandchildren, Tiera Baker, D. Avery (Lydia) Baker, Damion Starcher, Austin Lighty, and Alexzander Starcher; great grandchildren, Oliver Baker, Tallie Baker, Gracelynn Lighty and Karson Lighty.
Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville with services to follow at 1:00 p.m. with Evangelist Terry Townsend officiating.
