Robert Raymond Long, 88, of Byesville, passed away Friday (January 7, 2022) at SEORMC.
He was born May 13, 1933 in Kipling, son of the late Elmer Howard and Nettie Matilda (Noble) Long.
Mr. Long formerly worked at Ramage Royal Blue Market in Byesville for 30 years and was the store manager for 25 years. He was also employed at Byesville IGA for 13 years where he was the store manager.
He was a member of Main Ave. United Methodist Church in Byesville, Byesville Rotary, Byesville V.F.W., Scottish Rite, Shriners, served on the Byesville Village council for many years, and was a 1951 graduate of Byesville High School.
Bob enjoyed yard work, family time and was a sports fan who loved watching the Indians and all college athletics.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Belle (Littleton) Long whom he married August 14, 1954 and passed away May 24, 2011; three brothers, John Wilson and Thomas Henry and infant brother Charles Long; 2 sisters, Helen Beatrice Borcherding and Jeanette Meighen.
He is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Burgess of Senecaville; one brother, David Lee (Lorna) Long of Goshen IN; a grandson, Asa Burgess Spahn of Portland, Maine.
Bob donated his body to the Ohio State University Anatomy Department. Per his wishes, there will be no services.
