Robert “Rob” Derwort Jr., 58, of Byesville, passed away at his home that he shared with his sister, Joyce, on April 10, 2022
He was born May 13, 1963 in Parma, the son of the late Robert Derwort Sr. and Irene N. (Kalamasz) Derwort.
He was retired from the GNC Workshop after many years. He was a decorated Special Olympian with many medals he won on the local and state levels. He participated in swimming, track and field events, bowling, golf, and bocce ball.
Rob was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Cleveland Indians and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Saturday night was WWE night with two cold beers.
Rob is survived by his siblings, Donna (Nolan) Lloyd, Toni (Bob) Stillion, Rose (Chuck) Ball, Joyce Moore, and Kurt (Missy) Derwort; his nieces and nephews, Jennifer Branch, David Gesaman, Michael Stillion, Christine Green, Amy Hurley, Garry Tidwell, Danielle Wilkerson, Christopher Derwort, Ashley Ganbin, and Alex Derwort; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday (April 14, 2022) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where funeral services will be held on Friday (April 15, 2022) at 11:00 a.m. with Evang. Woody Biggs officiating.
As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to one of the following organizations: 1) Hospice of Guernsey Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725; 2) Special Olympics of Guernsey County; or 3) Dog Shelter of Cambridge.
