Obituary
Ruth Elizabeth Hannum, 63, of Byesville, passed away Tuesday (June 20, 2023) at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born December 25, 1959 and was the daughter of Donald Simonson and Anna (Holmes) Foraker.
Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, and nan. She grew up in Buffalo where she met some of her best friends for life. She met the love of her life at the age of 19 and they created a beautiful family.
She worked at Medical Associates which she enjoyed and also did Relay For Life fundraisers with some of her favorite co-workers until she retired.
Ruth enjoyed reading books, browsing through Facebook, and sitting at her kitchen table drinking coffee. She loved to cook and be surrounded by her family. She always wanted to be the host of any party and the more people the happier she was.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Billie Jo Pierce; and her mother-in-law, Dorothy Hannum.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Willie Hannum; three children, Mike (Heidi) Hannum of Buffalo, Tyler King of Cambridge, and Annie (Kiefer) Watson of Missouri; three brothers, Joe (Laura) Simonson of Salesville, Scott (Michelle) Simonson of Salesville, and Bryan (Lori) Simonson of Akron; two sisters, Marie (Warren) Yoder of Canton and Donna Simonson of Grove City; a sister-in-law, Wilma Edgar; fifteen grandchildren, Dalton (Jess) Kirkman, Bryce, Olivia, Elliott, Amber (Chris), Justin, Christopher, Erin, Erica (Bubba), Ali (Adam) McElroy, Keely (Josh) Edwards, Riley (Kolby) Rayner, Brody, Aubrie, and Conner; three great-grandchildren, Grayson, Hailey Jo, and Alaya; her niece, Kim (Dave) Logan; her cousins, Calvin (Vicky) Chester, Cheryl Gershan, and Christa Bostick; and her special friends, Debbie Ansberry, Alice Blackstone, Tiffany, Bev, and Amanda.
No services will be held at this time, but a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
