Ruth N. “Boots” (Deeren) Larrick, 96, of Byesville passed away Friday (April 2, 2021) at the Astoria Place in Cambridge.

She was born June 30, 1924 in Byesville, daughter of the late Raymond and Mary Edith (Rogers) Deeren.  Ruth retired from Sears and Robuck where she worked in bookkeeping and billing in Madison, WI, Sault St. Marie, MI, Newburg, NY and Cambridge/Zanesville.  She was a graduate of Buffalo High School, also Business School in Albany, GA.  She was a former board member of the Guernsey County Board of Elections, and worked many years on Jackson Twp. Zoning board.  She was a life member of Harmony Lutheran Church, Cambridge VFW  Aux. #2901, American Legion Aux. #116, DAV Aux., Cambridge Eagles Aux. #386 , and a member of Guernsey County Democrat Club.

Ruth was known most as “Boots”, a childhood nickname that was given to her by her father.  She enjoyed most of her life traveling with her husband while he served in the U.S. Air Force.  They lived and raised a family all over the world, When they both retired they continued to travel with their friends and family throughout the United States.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Larrick who passed away January 2009; two sons, Kevin L. Larrick and Keith Larrick; son-in law, Donald Hughes; siblings, William (Jean) Deeren, twin brothers, Frank “Hap” (Mary Florence) and Loren “Newt” (Rita) Deeren; one sister, Glenna Womer

She is survived by her daughter Karen Hughes of Old Washington; daughter-in-law, Darlene Larrick of Byesville; granddaughters, Beth (Jim) Cartner of Byesville and Megan Hughes of Savannah, Ga; great granddaughter, Mackenzie Cartner;  several nieces, nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home in Byesville, where services will follow with Pastor Steve MeHaffey officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
