Scott Hill Obituary

Scott Hill, 58, of Senecaville, passed away unexpectedly Friday (May 26, 2023).

He was born March 23, 1965 in Cambridge, OH, son of the late Wilford and Judy (Lucas) Hill.

A 1983 graduate of Meadowbrook High School, Scott was actively involved in FFA for four years, a 12-year member of the Seneca Doers 4-H Club and a member of the Meadowbrook High School Young Farmer’s Alumni Association.  After his graduation from high school, Scott attended Washington Technical Institute for diesel mechanics.

Scott was a lifelong farmer, where he worked the family farm with his dad, Wilford.  As his dad began to age, Scott & his wife Tammy took over the day-to-day operations of the farm.  They enjoyed working side-by-side, farming Hill Farms together, until his untimely death.

Scott was a member and past president of the Guernsey County Farm Bureau-where he and his wife were inducted into the Bureau’s 2012 Hall of Fame. He was a member and past director of the Eastern Ohio Angus Association-where he served on the Sale Committee. He was a member of the 4-H Advisory Extension Board, a member of the Noble County Cattleman’s Association, and a past-president of the Guernsey County Cattleman’s Association, and a director of the Heritage Co-Op for many years.

Scott lived life to the fullest and farming was his life.   He and his wife, Tammy raised commercial cattle as well as club calves, which have been sold in several states.  Although it was very hard work, Scott loved what he did.  And calving season was probably his favorite time on the farm.  Having a healthy calf “hit the ground” was a true thrill for him.  The couple enjoyed traveling to cattle shows and truck pulls.  Scott and Tammy were able to fulfill a lifelong dream of building their own pulling truck named “Unforgiven.”  He often said he loved the rush of adrenaline he felt when he hooked his truck to the puling sled and fired it up!

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Curtis and Vivian Hill; his maternal grandparents, Lewis and Helen Lucas; his aunt, Sharon Lucas; his great-uncle and great-aunt Miley and Carrie Larrick; his great-uncle Willie Corwin; his great-uncle and great-aunt, Earnest and Hazel Hill and his great-uncle and great-aunt, Gerald and Wanda Hill.

Scott is survived by his loving wife of thirty-one years, Tammy (Birney) Hill, whom he married June 22, 1991; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Barb Birney; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kim and Jeff Wheeler; his aunt and uncles, Kay and Bill Lucas, and Bob Lucas; his nieces, Chelsie, Alexis, and Ashleigh; several cousins; Todd (Heather) Lucas; Krista (Wayne) Shriver; Ty (Melody) Lucas; Brett (Kristy) Lucas; Bradley (Maura) Lucas; Lane, Grace and Ben Lucas; Ethan (Maria) Shriver-Haidyn Beros; Noah and Hudson (deceased) Shriver; Heath (Taylor) Shriver-Harlow and Holland Shriver; Liam and Landon Lucas; Jack, Katherine and Brett Rosner; Lauren, Annie, Micah and Abby Lucas; Megan and Kiera Lucas;  and Jerry (Joyce) Hill; Lois Hill Snyder; Craig (Melody) Hill; Ed (Kathy) Hill; Jeff Heckman, Randy Heckman and Diana Bondoni; and several special friends.

Scott never allowed anyone to remain a stranger for long.  If he knew they farmed-he would talk for hours!  He will be dearly missed by his wife, family and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday (June 9, 2023) from 2 p.m. to 7p.m. at the Stop Nine Church of Christ 60330 Southgate Road Byesville, where services will be held Saturday (June 10, 2023) at 11 a.m. with Evan. Mark Beros officiating.
