Shirley (Hutton) Barnett

Shirley (Hutton) Barnett, age 98 of Cambridge, passed away at her home on Sunday, March 15, 2020.

She was born August 21, 1921 in Cambridge and was the daughter of the late Wesley Floyd and Gertrude Taylor (Lowry) Hutton.

Shirley graduated from Byesville High School in 1939. She attended Cambridge Glass Plant School for 5 years. She retired, after 28 years of service from Ametek March Electric and was a member of the March Electric breakfast club. She was a member of Main Avenue United Methodist Church in Byesville for over 50 years, Phi Chapter of Alpha Pi Sigma Sorority for over 70 years, where she held several offices, Acorn Chapter #205 and the Cambridge Lodge #211 O.E.S. where she was Worthy Matron in 1964, also served the station of Esther for 30 years and was honored with a plaque and pin from Grand Chapter and Guernsey Chapter #211.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of seventy-one years, Harold E. “Pete” Barnett, whom she married February 8, 1947; and one brother, Lyle Hutton.

Mrs. Barnett is survived by two sisters in laws, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The family would like to thank her caregivers for the wonderful care they provided.

 Private services will be held, with burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
